Will replacing the camera fix white balance?

My iPhone 4, has a problem with white balance and saturation while in a room with artificial lighting, compact flouresents etc.

Will replacing the camera fix this issue? I can't see it being a software problem, since it has had this problem from the first use and it continues thru several firmware updates..

I notice a same problem with my camera phone (granted, it's a Samsung Solstice, not an iPhone 4). Given the fact that the sensor is so small, my guess would be that the camera has a hard time capturing images at the two extreme ends of the spectrum: too much or too little light. I am not a camera expert though, so perhaps someone who is will tell you if I'm right or wrong. Long story short, to me it sounds like it's something that can't really be fixed unless you use a real camera.
