No sound from speakers.

Hello all,

My wifes iPhone 6 Plus began having problems with the ear speaker becoming very muffled and then progressed to working intermittently. Eventually, the ear speaker stopped working entirely and incoming calls would drop upon answering. Trying to make an outbound call would produce no sound if not on speaker and would drop shortly after. We downloaded Skype and the ear speaker worked fine, the loud speaker would also produce sound.

We eventually got tired of using Skype and took the phone to a reputable repair shop in the area. They said they opened the phone and did not see any issues with the speaker and said it was a software issue(having some experience with electronics, this is absurd as many electronics show no physical damage when broken). After getting the phone back, Skype no longer works and the loudspeaker produced no sound with Pandora or any other app. Also, the video camera freezes upon opening it, presumably due to the speakers not work but I am not sure.

I'm looking at ordering both the ear and loud speaker and replacing them, but before I spend the money I wanted to see if anyone had any other ideas. I have done every type of restore that can be done, and nothing has improved or worsened.

Thanks in advance for any help or ideas!

-Ryan

Just to note the front camera assembly is what also connects the earpiece speaker.

Have you tried earphones that have in-line microphone and see if you can use skype and calls fine with that?

i agree, try using standard headphones with a mic on it to verify if that works first. next if you have already done a system restore, clean wipe etc. on the phone then it sounds to me like a hardware issue. could have been a drop of water that got into the ear piece, replacing those parts are cheap and fairly easy to do on your own, just requires a little patience as the screws are small
