i worked on my mac, later on closed the lid and went to work my wife tryed to open and use my laptop but she did something and screen black i came back from work and tryed everything still black i can hear sounds it starts loads skype seems everything works except screen tryed to reset nothing help please

First step:
Show a flash light on the screen and see whether you can see the desktop (basically all the icons). If you can, then it is related to backlight and/or inverter issues. You can fix it relatively easily.
Try connecting to external monitor, if you have one, to eliminate logic board issues from the equation.
