MacBook white dead after inverter fix!

Hello,

I have a trouble with a MacBook white, late 2008.

I have replaced the inverter and its cable, because the display remained all black (but with a light I noticed that the MacBook was working).

Despite I had followed the guide with great attention, the MacBook never turns on. The LED of Magsafe is green (the battery was already drained), but when I try to power on the MacBook, there isn't any sign of life: no sound, no fan... nothing.

What can I try to fix it?

I read that upper case cable can cut out even the power button: I remove it carefully, but I don't know what else can be the problem.

Can I turn on the MacBook without the power button, so then I can understand if the problem is the upper case cable?

Any other suggestion?

Thank you!

Most probably is the upper case to logic board cable not being correctly seated. I generally use a piece of Kaptan Tape o secure it in place. See step #5 of this guide. MacBook Core 2 Duo Upper Case Replacement

Hello Mayer, thank you for the tip. I've just followed your advice, but alas, it doesn't work. Do you suggest me to replace the upper case cable? Otherwise can be the logic board? Thank you again.

Some of these older machines needed a boast from the battery to boot. I would leave it plugged n for a couple of hours. If you are still running off the original battery its capacity may be to low, even at a full charge, to boot the machine. Do you remember what its status was before you started? Do you get an orange light when the Mag-Safe is plugged in for more than 20 seconds?

Hi, I plugged in the Mac as soon as I have seen your message, three hours ago by now. The battery is original and is exhausted from long time, I use the MacBook only with the charger. The light usually becomes green after 1 or 2 hours, but today it was green for a second and then remain orange. And the MacBook remains silent until now.

If the battery needs charging it is normal for the mag-safe light to first be green then change to orange while charging. When the charge is complete it will change back to green.

Yes, but this time it remain orange, I leave it until now. I try again to turn on, but it doesn't work. Do you think the problem is in the battery? Thank you for the advice. Maybe I'll try a new upper case cable, I don't know what else I can do

I've dealt with this problem before, and yes, I believe it's caused by damage to the top case connector, specifically when reconnecting the top case to the motherboard.

One particular page in the ASD manual (https://www.manualslib.com/manual/887401...) for the MacBook caught my attention, and I think it might explain why I've had issues with my keyboard or power button not responding after I've reinstalled my top case.
