Laptop use to power on automatically when I raised the lid.

I just purchased this laptop a week ago. I charged it up. And when I raised the lid, it immediately came on . It came on just like I had hit the power button. And I like that. But now a week later it doesn't do that. When you shut it down ( not using the power button) thru windows, it shuts down. But when I lift the lid, nothing happens. You now have to hit the power button. I would like it the original way. Has anyone had this before. And I dont drink and I am not imagining it. Plz help.

well, I found the fix. Its a Samsung and when I got the latest Samsung update, it changed a setting. It changed the "AUTO BOOT" in the Samsung settings to off. Turned in on and its working again. Thanks for the suggestions everyone.

When you shut it down with Windows, the machine powers off completely. You must turn turn it back on using the power button. When you close the lid while it's still powered on, it will go into sleep mode, which allows it to notice when you open the lid. A simple solution: close the lid and don't shut it down.

Darrell: I have the same issue and don't see a setting depicted as AUTO BOOT. I was looking in the Power settings. Can you let me know where that setting is? Thanks, Jim

Update (01/29/2017)

It worked. Thanks. I looked three times in the Power settings, thinking that I was missing something obvious. Again, thank you. It works now. Jim

Either look down in your taskbar for the Samsung Settings icon or on the bottom left "Windows" click it, scroll down until you find "Samsung" (it should have a arrow with a drop down), drop down and go into Samsung Settings. The first window that opens should have a on/off button that is for AUTO BOOT, just turn it on by sliding it over. Good luck and let me know.
