Battery drains suddenly from 18% to 5% , laptop hibernates.

Hello,

I bought a new Aspire E5-572G-525V laptop and using windows 8.1, but I am facing a battery issue. I have noticed that whenever the battery level reaches aound 18%, the battery suddenly drops to 5%-critical level without giving a low battery indication and the laptop gets hibernate.

I have tried all the possible ways like to set the low level battery level indication in advanced battery options, re-installing the microsoft battery driver etc. but nothing has worked.

Is the battery is defected or is it any hardware or software issue? Please help. Thanks!

Try reconditioning the battery by putting it in a sealed plastic bag. Then put that in the freezer for 12 hours. After 12 hours, charge the laptop to 100% and let it run down all the way. If it continues to drop suddenly, it is likely you need to replace the battery.

Thanks for the help. Actually the battery is just 4 days old and it is giving good backup. It gives issue only when it reaches below 20%. Till 20% it works fine.

Is the new battery from a 3rd party or an original?

In Windows 8.1, you can generate a battery report:

Press Windows key + R on the keyboard to get a run window.

Type cmd when you are at the Windows 8 Start screen

Click on Command Prompt listed at the top of the results

In the command prompt that will open, type cd %userprofile%/Desktop and press Enter

Next type powercfg -batteryreport in the command prompt and press Enter
