iMac G5 does not boot. gray screen. no power in usb.

I recently aquired an imac G5. when I turn it on, the power light comes on, the drives and fans start up, there is a cd stuck inside so I cant boot from cd drive. and the screen lights up gray. The usb ports supply one flash of power at first, then nothing.

I opened it up and removed the logic board and power supply to see if there were any obvious problems such as bulging capacitors, there are no such problems.

a stamp on the logic board says "apple 820-1212-A"

how can I do further tests to find the cause of the problem?

Thanks for the reply,

But I can't find the diagnostics leds anywhere on the logic board. is it possible that it is an older model and does not have them? I salvaged this computer, and do not know how old it is or what model it is as the number is worn off on the base.

I am hesitant to reinstall the logic board because if there are no leds, I would have to diagnose the problem manually anyway...

does anyone have any info on manually checking the logic board? Or other common problems with these computers other than the bad capacitors?

Much thanks
