Here is a link for an Apple guide to erase and install your operating system.

I have tried this method already. when I start the macbook holding C, it starts booting from the cd, then tells me "the computer needs to be restarted. hold down the power button". The only way i get it to boot is safe boot, but then I get the message that "osx cannot be installed on this computer". I can access the disk utility, and have erased the HD, but this does not solve the problem.

Thanks for the help Markus. I spent too many hours on this stupid machine, and still does not boot.Got a good bid on ebay(More than I paid), so I think I'll stick to a windows PC, maybe even try the iatkos.

first of all: LOL (sorry, but it's a very lame story)

the iatkos setup doesn't look like the leopard or snow leopard setup

anyway - try rEFIt - i think it's the only way to get you mac up and running again

Thanks Markus. how do I get this into a boot mode from windows xp?

maybe you should try this guide: CLICK. maybe it works also from an usb pendrive (transmac is able to write the dmg file)

I thought you would probably have to step in on this problem. Is the reason you can't properly erase the drive a boot sector modification caused by iatkos? +

Hey Markus. I the program to boot, but I don't really know what I am doing. About the boot sector, does the following look correct to you. I got this info using refit.

Current GPT partition table:

# Start LBA End LBA Type

1 40 409639 EFI System (FAT)

2 409640 488134983 Mac OS X HFS+

Current MBR partition table:

# A Start LBA End LBA Type

1 1 488397167 ee EFI Protective

MBR contents:

Boot Code: Unknown, but bootable

Partition at LBA 40:

Boot Code: None (Non-system disk message)

File System: FAT32

Listed in GPT as partition 1, type EFI System (FAT)

Partition at LBA 409640:

Boot Code: Unknown, but bootable

File System: HFS Extended (HFS+)

Listed in GPT as partition 2, type Mac OS X HFS+
