How do I tell if I have an airport card installed?

AFAIK came with Optional or Integrated 802.11b/g
Does it show up in System Profiler? If not you have to open the case and look in the slot.

All macs ship with an airport card built in- what problem exactly are you experiencing?

He doesn't say which mini he's got. Early ones had the Airport/Bluetooth as an option. Use the System Profiler (Apple Menu/About This Mac/More Info) to see if one is installed and/or recognized.
