Will phone calls work with data turned off
I grounded my son from his data, but when I turned his data off he's not able to make or receive phone calls, why?

Hi,
Phones will work with the data connection turned off as long as they do not have LTE only as the selected network mode option.
With the data connection off, when using other modes 3G etc all that happens is that you will lose the ability to connect to the internet as well as not being able to send/receive MMS messages. SMS messages use a different protocol and are not affected.
Check if you have LTE (4G) mode only as the selected option in Apps > Settings > more settings > Mobile Networks > Network Mode, as LTE requires data connection to be enabled.
