X on battery after replacment

Hello,

This is my first time posting here so bare with me.

I'm working on a MacBook that came in. The number on the bottom is a1278, we ordered a battery for it but when it came in, it didn't work. It showed an x over the battery. I decided to return it and order one from Anker. Once I received it I installed it and again got that same x.

I noticed when installing the operating system I had no problem doing so with it unplugged. Even turning on the computer off charger works fine but once the OS comes up the laptop power down. It currently has Sierra. I did have it working at one point but it was brought back for the same issue.

Anything helps and greatly appreciated!

Happy repairing!

So, after tearing my hair out for 2 days. I finally found the issue. It was this battery sensor on the side, it was covered in corrosion. I unplugged it and replugged it after cleaning it with 91% alcohol.
