iPhone will not connect to PC

This iPhone 3G will charge from a wall charger! It will not connect to the computer and it will not charge when connected to the USB port of the computer. Please help.

I have windows 7. I have tried on various USB ports on 4 different computers. Where other iPhones works fine.

I have replaced the dock port with a working one.

These are two different phones. I tried to find the capacitor replacement link but could not find it. PLEASE HELP!

Thank you very much for your help, it makes some sense, BUT WHY WILL THE COMPUTER NOT RECOGNIZE THE IPHONE. Thanks.

Yes I did get a dock from a working phone. Did'nt change anthing. I put the dock into the origina phone it works fine.

The battery seems to hold good charge. The phone can stay on without draining the battery and to clarify it works without the wall charger plugged into the phone.

I will replace the battery from a working iphone and will post the results. Thank you very much all. Good Bye.

I think we've done most of the simple hardware repairs that could have fixed this. You may need to look at the software-remove jailbreaks, re install itunes etc. sorry can't help any more.

the computer doesn't recognise the phone simply because the power supplied by the usb isn't suffucient to "power" the phone.if your battery is no good or connection internally from battery is poor then there will be insufficient power from phone to computer to be recognised. wall power from the mains is greater.does charging from mains take longer? does it fully charge?will phone only power on when on mains? these are all signs of dying/dead battery or poor connection of battery.

Hi Majid and I totally agre with pollytintop. If your phone charges the way you describe it, you will require a new battery. The USB port does not supply enough power to charge that battery. Best of luck....
