Touched my battery cable with metal

When my battery wouldn't charge I followed directions to just unhook the cables and try charging. That had worked in the past. This time I accidentally touched my screwdriver to the metal on the Battery cable. It gave the smallest electrical sound and slight smell. When I put it back together the battery charged and the touch screen lit up, but the touch screen does not respond to touch. Is the tablet fried? Will replacing the battery fix it? What can I try?

If the tablet display is working then you've shorted something on the board . Sounds like the digitizer circuit. I doubt that replacing the digitizer itself will fix the problem . Look on the board for signs of a burn or darkened area . This will probably be a board level repair . Without actually seeing the affected area it will be impossible to diagnose . If you could take pictures of the board in the area of the connectors for the screen and digitizer it might help use better diagnose your problem this guild will show how to add a picture
