Interface on 1st Gen Apple TV reverted back to original

My office has 3 Apple TVs (1st generation) that we keep our creative work on. Funny thing this morning, all 3 Apple TVs have reverted back to the old version of the AppleTV interface (the two column popup window). The day before yesterday they all had the interface that looked similar to the new AppleTV interface (row of thumbnails at top with a horizontal list of options).

Also all three aren't showing what is on their hard drives, but will only show what is in my iTunes playlist via airplay from my iMac.

To add to all of this all three claim to have a software update. The update runs, the units reboot, nothing looks different, and still claim there is a software update.

I could understand one going bad, but 3 units (bought at different times) at one time? Did Apple pull the plug on some of the the first gen model functionality? Or have all of my AppleTVs somehow downloaded the 2nd gen OS?
