Why wont my iPod touch screen turn on? its charging but nothing shows

i was playing a game after doing errands on my ipod touch 5 and I wanted to leave the app since I wanted to play another game and it was acting slow, so I used assistive touch to go back to the home screen, but it was still slow, so I clicked lock screen hoping it would take me back to the home screen, but nothing showed up! after clicking the home button which is not working and the power button for like hours, nothing came up

I had all my photos, texting apps and games on it

what do I do??

ps: when I plug it in the computer, it says its charging but the screen doesn't turn on

Hi,

You say you held the home and power button down? And nothing happened? If the Home button is not working as you say, then you need it to go dead. Holding Home and Power until the Apple shows up on screen is a restart and that should/would fix this.

Unplug charger and make sure it seems to be on. Let it run until it dies on its own and then leave it sit a bit longer. When you turn it on it should have shutdown so it will start up clean. Hopefully that will restore your screen.

If you are brave or have opened the iPod before, you can remove the cover over the battery connector and then it will go dead. Wait a minute then carefully connect battery back up and try again.

Why does the home button not work? touchID not working or is the physical button is dead?

Ahh, try a very fine pin or tack or even the tip of a xacto knife and carefully run around the very edge of the home button. They get stuck from finger gunk and sometimes need a little help getting it out. Don't go in far at all, just about 1 32nd of an inch. After each time around, try pushing gently down and rocking slightly back and forth. it should pop back out.

If that does not help then the button is dead, because if it was stuck down, it would always go home or siri wold constantly come up.
