phone shuts off while starting up
My iPhone was acting weird today, so I did what I usually do and shut it off for a moment, but as I was turning it back on, it shut itself off again. I've tried turning it on 30+ times and the result is always the same; the white screen with the black apple logo shows for a few seconds, then the screen goes black as it shuts itself off.
Does anyone know if there's a way I can fix this, or how much it might cost to have it fixed at a cellphone store? I currently don't have any interest in getting a new phone and would rather keep this one if I can.
Some background info: my phone is 3 years old, has a non-functional home button, has been dropped enough times that I've had to replace the screen twice, and had around 83% battery life when I turned it off.
Is this a good question?
Has the phone been updated recently? I would rule two things out first, the battery and software. If your information is backed up or you're not worried about losing it I would try restoring through iTunes. I would also test or have a local store test your battery. This is common behavior for both.

It hasn't been updated since last spring & unfortunately most of my information isn't backed up but it's very important to me.
I'll consider getting the battery tested if nothing has changed in a couple of hours.
