Why can't I completely close back panel? Not a prob previously.

I can’t get the back plate into place. That last couple of millimeters the lower edge of the plate slides down to line up with the bottom edge of the phone.

Didn’t have any trouble closing up after replacing the front screen. I had to open it up again when I realized I had missed the spacer under the top of the battery connector.

Now I can’t get the back panel to slide into place, closing up. Ready for 2 pentalobe screws, finishing this repair.

What am I forgetting or overlooking that I didn’t the first time? I’m almost positive the only thing I took off was the screws and the battery connector.

I doubt the Russians snuck in and messed it up somehow...so it must be something I did, not noticing...Maybe something shifted?

Everything looks fine. Nothing appears to be sticking up or out and getting in the way of full closure.

This is maddening. Help!

ThankYou!

I have always had that problem with that series of iPhone. There doesn't seem to be much reason or rhyme with it. It doesn't always happen with each phone. You basically have to retry repeatedly, and use gentle force doing this. Eventually you will get it to slide perfectly into place. I agree, quite maddening

Thanks for the info. Eventually, the %#*@ thing closed. It was definitely an exercise in frustration.

Of course, the next time I opened the %#*@ thing, it closed right up. No problem.

I guess the iPhone gods were just giving me grief as a newbie iPhone user. Hopefully they won't give me any trouble when I eventually get to replacing an iPad front glass/digitizer assembly. My glass being half-empty, tells me It'll be a hassle! :-)
