Retrieve photo from a broken (won't turn on) iPhone

My iphone is completely shattered and will not turn on. Basically it's gone. My HUGE mistake was that I did not back up my phone in months and it has not been synced on iCloud since i turned that off. I'm really desperate to get my photos since I have pictures of my baby since she was born. I haven't backed it up in like 5months or more ( my baby is 5 months). Apple already told me since its not backed up on iTunes or iCloud, my photos are basically gone. But I was hoping that maybe the memory chip or some sort of chip can help.

Answer this question I have this problem too

Is this a good question?

You sure it isn't just a bad screen?

Is your phone actually dead or is the screen just dead, have you tried connecting it to your computer and leaving it for a while (an hour), it may charge up and connect to itunes, even if you cant interact with it to unlock it, if you have backed it up before on that computer it should back up again allowing you to restore to a new phone.

Also if you are logged into iCloud on your phone your photos should automatically upload to either iCloud photo album or the photo stream. go to icloud.com and log in with your iCloud account details and click PHOTOS from the options that pop up, you may find that some of your photos are there.
