Is it possible to have text messages blocked?
My phone appears to have suddenly started to block text messages, any ideas welcome?

It is happening to me right now.
It even blocks my messages from going out or comming in.

Is it only to or from particular contacts or to and from everyone?
Are you talking about SMS messages or MMS messages?
Try starting the phone in safe mode to see if your SMS messages work OK. If they do then a downloaded app is the cause of the problem. The trick is to find out which one.
If it is MMS messages that you are having problems with, have you enabled the Data Connection setting in the phone? Don't know your particular model but usually it is found at Settings > Wireless and Networks > more > Data Connection
