Can't get SMC Flasher to work

I need to reset my Mac's smc and none of the hardware solutions are working so I am trying to do it manually.

I have followed the directions here:

But I am getting an error of : "Error: invalid option 2 '1'"

when trying to run the SmcFlasher.efi tool in the last step

I have seen tons of people with this problem online, and spent over an hour looking for a solution, but can't seem to find one.

Does anyone know what's going on?

You'll need to visit an Apple Store to get them to reset your firmware. You'll likely need proof of ownership as well.

Apple altered the firmware a while ago to prevent resetting from within the system. This was part of the move forward with a bunch of security lockdowns within the Mac systems.
