The battery goes dead quickly when not in use

I did a battery installation on an iPod I bought off eBay. Works great when music is being played on it. Lasted for 15 hrs. But when it's not in use it goes dead in around 6 hours. Can someone please help me with a solution to this problem? Thank you

Could be a short on the battery connection? Or a duff battery?

Do you turn the iPod propertly off when you dont use it? It could be the quality of the battery, if it uses power when you dont use it i would strongly recommend you get a new one.
