Water Damaged iPhone 6 no sound, Can’t Record Video, Cant Record Voice

Hi I have a water damaged iPhone 6 in fact the screen was damaged also.

In attempting to repair the phone I have done the following

• Replaced the Screen and swapped the TouchID through

• Replaced the loudspeaker

Everything on the phone now works perfectly with the exception of sound. I am unable to record video recorder voice memo play back video that has sounds. One of the diagnostic apps on the App Store tells me the microphone is working fine that’s Why I replaced the loudspeaker. However I’m at a loss now to troubleshoot and identified the faulty part it could be the lightning connector and headphones jack as it contains a microphone.

Or

The Front camera sensor cable it to also contains a noise cancelling microphone.

No sound coming out of the headphones either?

Strangely I was also getting the following and adjusting the sound via the volume switches which I’ve never seen before.

Any and all help appreciated

What components are on the audio control cable on the iPhone 6? And could the failure of these components cause the speaker to stop working?

Chosen Solution

There are three microphones on an iPhone 6:

  • The one at the bottom of the device next to the lightning port. It is used for phone calls, voice memos and selfie videos
  • The one near the ear speaker is used for noise cancellation
  • One next to the flash/camera for videos with the rear camera.

Identify when you can or can't record video to identify which microphone is problematic. Use headphones to isolate the speaker or try to email the recording so you can listen to it on a computer.

You should be able to isolate the problem. If none of the microphones or speakers work and you have replaced parts, then your problem may reside on the logic board. There are amplifier circuits that may have been damaged by corrosion.
