How do I change my Japanese 3DS to English?

I just bought an original metallic red Japanese 3DS. By original I mean it isn't the new one, and it isn't an XL/LL. I love the color, very pinkish as opposed to the orange-y American flame red. Anyway, I'm aware that 3DS's are region locked. But I also understand that you can hack it into English with a certain kind of software/firmware/app. I need somebody to tell me how to do this. Please help! Thanx.

go on 3ds.guide and use boot9strap to install a custom firmware.
