Replaced 3ds XL top screen now volume doesn't change

I just replaced my top screen in a Zelda 3ds XL. I got it all working nicely, including the speakers and cameras. Everything is back together except now the volume slider does not work. It is stuck at full volume.

I did have some trouble with two of the ribbon clips. The bottom screen clip broke off. I put a price of tape on the back of the ribbon to make sure the connectors touch and that solved that. The other clip is the one for the volume slider. That one is cracked but is still in place and still locks, but I suspect I won't be able to open and close it too many more testing before it falls apart.

Could the cracked ribbon clip cause the slider to fail? If the slider fails does it leave the volume at max setting? Is there any other ribbon which would effect this system?

I wonder whether the slider was simply damaged during disassembly/reassembly, but I was very careful with it all.

What do you think? Is it the switch or the connector? Everything appears to be connected correctly

It could also be that one of the connectors in the top part of the ds came loose. Try reseating them.

Or you didn't put the slider in properly, so the actual slider doesn't move the potentiometer. Take the back of the top half of the 3ds off and reseat the cables and sliders.
