Mouse continiously Scrolling down volume control!

Hi,

My Logitech laser mouse scrolls the volume control down without me doing anything!

it does not seem to affect many other scrolling functions such as web pages, it does the same on several computers so I am convinced it's the mouse, I would like to know if there is a way to re-set it or can it be sent for repair?

It is quite old but I love it!

Hi, Do not know your mouse features, but does it have another switch that can change from it from normal to a "media" mouse. Perhaps even by holding the scroll "button"down for a set period to enable the function perhaps. Just a thought.

Also it it Wireless, BT or cable?

Hello Jayef,

Thanks very much for your comment,

Yes it did have other functions which could be assigned to the L/R tilt and downward click of the scroll wheel but they are only available with the use of additional software which isn't installed on my current machine (it was not updated after XP) so the mouse just has the basic functions L/R click & scroll.

It is wireless, laser.

I have tried holding down the scroll wheel but no joy!

Hi,

Just verifying that there are no other switches, underneath the mouse, beside the on/off -not even in the battery compartment? A hidden DPI switch perhaps.

Also being wireless does that mean that it has its' own USB adapter?

by

Hi Jayeff,

Yes it does have an adapter, and there is a button underneath the mouse that reconnects the mouse to the adapter, a green light flashes then goes solid when it is pressed, reconnecting has sometimes cured the problem temporarily so that may be something to do with it! I'm testing pressing it multiple/different lengths of time, no obvious switches in the battery compartment.

Thanks norskers.

Hello Jayeff,

Nothing I've tried so far has any consistent results so I would be grateful of any ideas however much of a long shot they may be! : )

Possibly just a driver update issue. Uninstall reinstall. My keyboard does the same thing.

Hello Tolivent,

Thanks very much for your comment, as far as I know this mouse is just working as a generic pointing device, there is no software installed as such on this machine because it wasn't updated after XP, it had the same scrolling issue on another (XP) machine which did have the software & I tried reinstalling it on that to no avail, thanks anyway & if you have any other ideas I would be grateful!

beneath the mouse there’s a music sign (symbol) the nub of mine was switched up to that symbol and it only controlled volumes… crazy right!!! already bought a new mouse, and thought my money was wasted until I push the nub back down from the music symbol to 500hz (option) and it’s working elegantly fine. Now moves pages up and down etc..

Hello Hon.Rex Eyisi,

Thanks for your time in answering my post! sadly my mouse is more primitive than yours & has no switch between scroll & volume, sounds like a useful addition though! maybe it’s time to buy a more up to date one!

Thanks again.
