Hi,

The short answer is NO.

If you do it may work but it will probably cause problems because the components are designed for 6V working and as you don't know their tolerance you have to assume that they will fail with the extra voltage (nearly 25% more) being supplied to them. If not the voltage, then the extra voltage will definitely cause more current to flow in the circuit, which again will cause problems as it can then "burn" out components.
