Not powering up and not charging battery

My daughter noticed the battery getting low, so she plugged in magsafe. The battery didn't charge and the macbook died a few moments later, even though it was plugged in.

Tested Magsafe on another macbook and it works.

Replaced the magsafe board, but that made no difference.

Replaced the battery and macbook booted up. But still didn't charge. So once battery died, computer was dead again.

Apple said logic board isn't receiving power, and offered depot repair for $575.

Anything else you think I should or could try?

thanks.

First, that should be a level 1 Depot Repair with tax and shipping $371.

Next, lets look at this program: https://www.apple.com/support/macbookpro...

I'd take it to an ASP instead of Apple and have it tested as this sounds like a logic board issue to me. The ASP has a financial incentive to help you while Apple does not.

Did it ever exhibit any video issues at all?

Thanks Mayer. The store told me $575 on two separate occasions. Maybe I need to talk to someone over the phone.

We have Apple store 2 miles away, but closest ASP is 1.5 hrs away. Think it is worth the drive?

I took advantage of the logic board program a year or so ago, when my video started going crazy.

I have seen Apple replace the board up to three times. Call 1-800-MYAPPLE and get to a senior advisor and ask for a "warranty exception", you might mention that you are aware that this program was the result of a class action law suit but you prefer not having to go that route, Be nice ;-) But firm.

If the balk you might mention the Federal Trade Commission Bureau Of Consumer Protection

Here's how to get to your states agency: https://www.usa.gov/state-consumer

Unfortunately Apple is no longer run by men of good character. It's become a very greedy corporation and does not take care of its customers like it did for three decades.
