My nexus5 has a black (broken) screen, worth replacing screen?

I dropped my nexus 5 after which the screen broke. Since then it still worked fine, but recently I had trouble turning on the screen again from stand-by. I often had to reboot up to a point where it only vibrates when turning it on, but no screen shows. I can see that the light of the lcd turns on sometimes, but nothing is visible on the screen.

I found some cheap replacement displays, is it worth replacing the screen and how can ik find out if it's just the screen?
