What else can I test in order to figure out this problem.

I was given for free a Samsung 61" DLP TV. MODEL # HLP6163WX/XA- Atlantis.

I was told that family was watching tv one night had a power surge/outage. Next day tv buzzed no picture.

I pull light engine assembly out, cleaned everything, open color wheel to clean, found shattered..

Ordered new 1ch + New Ph bulb,

Mean while reassembled everything to test power board voltage. ..

I plug the tv in it automatically turns on, lamp(green) light blinks & lamp powers on, color wheel spins, lamp turns off, wheel stops.

Then all the lights in front panel blink(Timer/Lamp(green), standby/Temp(red).

New color wheel, new bulb, new ballast..

with multi-meter, line into ballast at start up is 318v(thought 320vmin)original had reading of 299v..?

checked Power board voltage test points some spot on but 3 where (less than) board markings, so i swapped out 1 from a more functional tvset. Similar model-

-- improvement to all but one test point (80v)actual reading(72v).

i jumpered the door switch/did same to temp for testing and no change. .i ordered new temp sensor & door switch still no change. ..

i noticed during the power cycle it does if i try to access service menu (mute+182+power), screen flashes grayish then back to black. ..

Not sure what else i should be checking/testing or if im still at a power board issue.? Thinking it's dmd board or digital board now, where do i check for failure?? Both expensive. !

Is it really possible every electronic board in this tv failed. .?

Answer this question I have this problem too

Hi, Sounds like your problem may have been lightning related,if the failure was caused be a lightning strike the damage could be extensive and hard to track down, I have serviced electronics for over 45yrs.and have seen lots of damage lightning caused and you could very easily have multiple problems. Modern microelectronic parts such as integrated circuits are very sensitive to voltage induced failure even a close hit not directly on a power line or cable TV can induce failure think of it as a mini emp pulse the wiring inside will act sort of like an antenna allowing stray induced voltage to destroy the sensitive parts, this may be a tough repair.
