How do I remove the metal brackets from the audio control cable?

I need to replace the Audio Control Cable because the on-off switch no longer works. The replacement cable came without the metal brackets at the cable ends. The repair instructions stop at removing the audio control cable but do not tell me how to transfer the metal brackets from the old cable to the replacement part which came without brackets.

Hi,

It would've been much easier if you had found some with the metal brackets already attached, as it now becomes a more annoying job.

You will need to use something flat like a small metal pry tool, this allows you to get under the cable and remove the cable from the previous brackets.
