What this antenna does?

I have iPhone 6 and its WiFi and GSM signal reception is poor. WiFi works within just 5m range of router. GSM signal sometime works on different locations and sometime doesn't. I opened my iPhone and found that its antenna.

It is broken from its connector, is this a reason it is giving such poor reception?

I am going to give my iPhone to local repair shop who will fix this antenna

Options

Yes, that antenna is the wireless reception antenna. It should be easy to find a replacement anywhere, but you should try amazon. Just search for "iPhone 6 replacement antenna.
