Repair guy swapped device's screen with another device's, mistake?

Hello,

Long story short:

I took my iPhone 6 to a repair guy then when I had it back I noticed the screen was not the same screen the device got in with.

He said maybe one of their guys put it in the device by mistake

Now, my screen originally had two small cracks, that is how I noticed. Can he actually swap two screens without knowing? As in swapping mine with another device's by mistake?

Touch ID works fine, isn't it the home button that stores it? And it won't work if it was another device's home button? So he had to disassemble the screen to swap it (by mistake)?

Please replay urgently.

Update 1: I have noticed that the earpiece is different than mine (it is louder, mine was weak due to a drop). And home button is noticeably wigglier.

If the TouchID works, then whoever worked on your phone had to swap the Home button from your original screen to this replacement screen.

This could still be an honest mistake. I suspect the tech thought the screen was to be replaced due to the small cracks but when they realized it wasn't necessary, probably decided it wasn't worth the time to migrate everything back.

I'm just speculating here...talk to the shop owner and have it resolved to your satisfaction.

How to explain the earpiece though? I swear by the old gods and the new it is not the same one I had!!

They likely replaced the IC and changed the display. Honestly, you're coming out ahead. You're phone works perfectly. I would call a win a win

If the screen has been replaced and you now have a better ear speaker and haven't paid any extra, surely that is a good thing ?.

If the shop had several jobs on the table at once it is quite possible to put the wrong screen on the wrong phone.

You didnt say what the phone went in for?, it would be useful to know to work out if even touching the screen was relevant to the repair.

Well, they replaced it with a low quality screen and has glue on its sides, that's not acceptable!

My phone went in for liquid damage, and it was all about 2 ICs, so the screen was not supposed to be even touched! Also they caused a dent on the left side and now phone is leaking light.
