Disabled iPhone isn't recognized by itunes and it requires a password

Hi! So recently I've forgotten my password to my phone and I kept going at it trying to guess the right password and now the only way to get into my phone is through ITunes. Though the problem with that is that my iTunes on my laptop (windows not mac) won't recognize that my phone is connected even though it truly is. As well as that, a box pops up requesting that before I sign into ITunes I must put in a password into my phone?? I have no idea what to do and I haven't come across anything that has worked, a major bummer but hopefully someone on here can help? Thanks in advance! :)

try putting your phone into DFU mode and then restoring through iTunes, iTunes may be waiting for the phone to "trust this computer". iTunes cant talk or recognise the phone until you either unlock it or "trust" the computer. to get round the passcode you will have to put the iPhone into DFU mode, there are detailed guides on how to do this searching Google will only take a few seconds to find one.

iTunes should then pop up detecting a phone in recovery mode, you can then restore the phone and set it up as a new one (less the passcode lock), you will need your Apple ID as password in order to activate the phone and use it though.
