blindmiror, can you elaborate a little? Itunes requested that you plug the iPod into a wall charger? Is it possible that it is referring to a firewire connection? I had a similar issue with a 3rd Gen that needs firwire to charge but USB for data sync. May be you can post what iTunes is requesting so that I can try to help you further to figure this out. Good luck.

Okay blindmirror just did a bit more research. It is common for the older iPod to have to be connected to a wall charger as part of the restore process. It will finish updating the restore when you plug it to an external power supply....hope this helps you to get your iPod working. http://www.wikihow.com/Restore-an-iPod

good luck

@oldturkey03 so yea I know that it is 2019 but I have made my dreams came true and got iPod 4th gen. And I got same issue, I have ordered firewire cable but I am still missing power adapter? Do you think that it will be enough to connect it to working ibook?

Spamm3r should be okay for as long as it is Firewire. It may still require a AC adapter to complete but you can’t hurt it trying
