My iPhone 5s blew up in a car, is there any hope to fix it?

Around 2-3 weeks ago I was in the car with my friend. He let me know if my phone was dying I could charger it on his car charger, so I put my phone on the charger and let it sit. After about an hour I heard a pop and we looked around to see what it was and I began to smell smoke. I looked at my hand at smoke was coming from the charger port of my phone. I took out the charger and noticed my phone wouldn't turn on anymore. I switched out the charger port and gave the phone a brand new battery but it still didn't turn on. Today I plugged in the old cable to see if it was either my phone or the cable and I watched as the hole got bigger and smoke and flames came out of the cable. This phone was 64gb and I really would like to fix it, is there anything I can do?

Is the Lightning cable an Apple original or a copy? Chances are you have a copy and it doesn't include the over voltage protection circuit. It may also be related to the charging block that plugs into the car. Cheap imitations also lack the proper protection circuitry.

Regarding your iPhone, the charging circuit probably blew as well. That's the U2/Tristar IC. You should look for a repair shop that does micro-electronics repairs so that they can properly diagnose your phone.
