iPhone Screen wont turn on, recognized by itunes after repairing.

Hey guys,

Ive repaired tons of iphones and ipads and even a super difficult surface pro 3 however I was working on an 6s plus last night and for some reason when I put the new screen in it didnt work. Then after decided to swap the old screen it did work but only once (weird). Then I felt confident that I could put the new screen back on. But then.... I was able to smell a little burning from the pins of the digitizer cable pins. Im beginning to think im totally screwed. I dont think this is long screw damage because the only screws that were put back on were the ones on the screen its self rather than the metal plate of over the connectors

Any help at all would be killer.

Options

Chances are you shorted a voltage rail to ground while you were trying to line up the connector. Often, there are active voltage rail pins next to ground pins on these FPC connectors. Considering the pitch between them is only a few tenths of a mm, it is easy to do so.

That is why you must always disconnect the battery before doing any work on connectors.

Generally speaking, once a component gives up it's magic smoke it's a goner. However, you may be lucky in that the smoke came from excess current, hence heat, to the connector.

Disconnect everything, inspect visually to see if anything looks damaged and try again...just don't forget to disconnect the battery.
