The felt came off my optical drive bezel. Repair?

The felt came off my optical drive bezel on a black MB Core 2 Duo. I see that ifixit had at one time a replacement bezel, but has zero now.

I would guess the felt is there to keep debris out.

Is it critical to replace it, and if so any leads on finding one would be greatly appreciated.

OK, Google is my friend. I found a black bezel online (actually from a place in the suburb of the city I live in).

So my question really is, how critical is it to replace this?

It's not critical at all. The primary purpose is to slow the ejection of optical media, so without it you'll probably notice CDs "launch" themselves out further than they would otherwise. I often remove it, because it commonly gets bunched up and prevents media from ejecting, etc.

I suppose it helps keep debris out of the drive, but if you live in a normal environment and treat your laptop well, I don't think it's a huge risk.

Thanks I appreciate it, since I just lost my iMac G5 that literally dumped the disc onto the desk, I can get used to the MacBook sending a disc a little further than normal.
