Camera requires resetting date and time every time it is powered on

Canon PowerShot SX160IS is not retaining the date and time, requiring these to be reset every time the camera is powered on. Has happened to several friends' cameras as well. Not just this model but earlier models such as 150IS. Is this fixable?

djstavrop, Below is a link to a guide to change the CR1220/3V button cell battery that keeps the memory(date/time) for your camera.

Wow, I have never seen a clock battery been replaced so easily. Most of the time there isn't even a button cell, let alone tray that slides out.

No, battery is OK (2.95V) but after 1 day of being shut off the date/time is lost.

What's the problem?

The battery holds that information. If it is dead it will lose it's setting. Try changing the battery. Here's how:
