Homebutton is stuck but sensor works

Hello,

My homebutton of my ipad air is stuck, i can't press it anymore.

But when i press really hard than it works , what is the problem then is it the homebutton self or the cable with the sensor?

did you tried doing a hard restart on ipad . see if that help . just press the power key and hold for like 30 sec . thanks

That is Unfortunately not a solution for me because i can't click anymore on the homebutton it is not the software , but the hardware. thanks anyway for the suggestion

It will be the home button ribbon most likely. May need the plastic and rubber seal replaced around the home button, it is it getting stuck under the screen. You need to open this and check it out.

I always try everything I can on iPads before I open them, since opening them almost always means a new screen.

Try cleaning the power button out with 99% IPA. Give it a good soaking and scrubbing. You won't hurt anything that isn't already hurt. If that doesn't fix it, its most likely just the glue on the bracket working loose after years of use. If you are pressing down on the button and it doesn't "feel right", its a safe bet that its just the bracket. It also could be that the bracket isn't lined up quite right because of a drop. It happens.
