Swapping Internals, Is It Possible?

My LCD has become damaged and is showing purple across the entire screen. My question is, if I were to purchase a phone with a bad ESN, would I be able to put my internals into that phone and have it function normally? What chips would need to be swapped and where is the ESN located inside the phone?

A new OEM LCD is about 200 dollars. A phone with a bad ESN is only 40-80 on ebay and is the most economical choice for me.

Yes it is definitely possible. Try to find a bad esn phone that is through the same carrier. This helps to avoid modifying the housing by doing some grinding in certain areas so the motherboard screws and fits into place properly. That is not fun modifying. So if you can find a bad esn phone through the same carrier you can simply swap motherboards to have a fully functional phone again. This can be a great choice to save money since samsungs replacement displays always cost a lot. And the esn number is stored on the motherboard. So swapping boards is all that's needed. No need to remove and replace any chips on the motherboards, just simply swap them. Keep in mind there is also a sticker or print that contains the esn number. So that number will not match the esn number on the motherboard once you swap them out. You can also find the correct esn number in settings. This does not affect functionality at all I mentioned this just in case you want to sell the phone later. Then you can let the person know what the correct esn number is and why it may not match the number printed on the phone itself.
