iPhone is getting hot on the face of the screen.

Had replaced a screen on an iphone 6+ but the screen surface gets warm/hot when used. I replaced a proximity sensor, checked the heat shield to make sure the flex cable tab was properly placed underneath it. Any experience/suggestions would be appreciated.

Thank you. I will double check connectors

The phone also loses battery power faster if that helps w diagnosis. Otherwise screen works and displays fine

If the screen is still hot, then there is excess current draw which would deplete your battery faster.

How do I resolve this issue?

It's probably the front facing camera ribbon cable assembly being at fault. Unplug it and then turn on the phone again to see if it still heats up during use. If not replace it.

Why did you replace the proximity sensor? Was this related to a problem?

There are a couple of things that could be wrong here. You don't mention if the "warm" replacement screen works otherwise. I'll assume it does. You may have a defective screen or the connectors are not seated properly.

Open your device and go through this guide to insure you have done everything correctly. The FPC connectors are delicate and should "snap" when properly seated. Check them to insure they aren't damaged.

If the screen is still warm after you re-install it, try your old screen if it stills works to see if the warmth is specific to your replacement screen or not.

If the problem only follows the replacement screen, contact the seller and get a refund. Look for a reputable supplier like iFixit as they have great warranty service.

Hi Steve, it would be easier to follow if you commented on the answers. That way I get notified, otherwise, I don't know you have made any updates.

Can you confirm if the excess warmth occurs on both screens or just the replacement? If you haven't already, put back the old screen to see.

It's probably the front facing camera ribbon flex cable assembly being at fault.

OP: Unplug the front camera cable for the screen and see if the screen still heats up a lot during testing it.

If it does not then you will need to replace the front camera ribbon cable with another one again as it's faulty.
