My Mac runs extremely slow after battery replacement, not usable now.

So after 6 years with my macbook I figured I could gain some extra battery time if I switched it out. I ordered it from ebay and figured that it would work fine. I followed the instructions and exchanged the battery but then when I turned it back on it runs extremely slow and lags. I can barely log in and this takes half an hour.

I figured that the battery was bad so I changed it back to the old one, but it didn't change anything and it is now not possible to use it for anything.. Anyone have any idea what this could be? I can't use it for anything at the moment so it is not possible to update it in any way.

I also tried disconnecting the battery all together but then it won't turn on at all. The fan is running at full speed from the second I turn it on. I also did an update before turning it off and exchanging the battery if that's of any importance.

The battery symbol just shows an X and no battery available.

Experience tells me it has nothing to do with your battery.

The hard drive cable goes bad on this model. If it goes on to long it also destroys the hard drive.. To test, disconnect the hard drive cable from the logic board and boot it from an external USB source. If it runs OK, you have isolated the problem,.

I use the cable from the 2012 model, put pads on either side of the cable as it comes over onto the optical drive to prevent the bottom case from damaging it.
