iPhone 5s battery help

I was taking my battery out of my iphone with the ifixit kit and i puntured the battery and it smoked and emitted sparks, after about 4 weeks im trying to take the battery out more the correct way applying heat to the backside. So my question is,is it still safe to remove the battery with out it exploding or anything?

If the battery has already been damaged to the point of fumes I would proceed with extreme caution . Best to work in a well ventilated area and be prepared for a fire a metal container with a lid to drop the phone into in the event of a fire . Methanol works well to loosen the glue holding the battery and shouldn't react with the lithium . If your using a heat gun to soften the glue be careful not to over heat the battery . Best to heat from the backside not to put heat directly on the battery. Hope this helps

Aaaand this is why you don't play with batteries inside.* try to go extremely slowly, if you punctured the battery then obviously you weren't very careful and I would say just bring it to a repair place if you not comfortable doing it yourself. Also check the logic board for damage from the Sparks/flames. Reassemble and hope :)

*they are fun to watch explode if your outside :)
