Button missing from side (actuates functions)

It's my wife's Charge HR. The small button on the side fell off. Can you replace it or can it be replaced? Everything else is fine, but without the button, no FITBIT options, etc.

Answer this question I have this problem too

Is this a good question?

Interesting that all of these comments are within the same time period as is mine. I received mine for Christmas 2015, about 14 months ago. The button has fallen out that allows immediate info when pressed. The Charge HR is working ok I just can't press the button for current info. I can hit it and get info in the screen but would like it fixed. i will try Ebay as suggested above.

Mine just broke this am (2/24/2017) after receiving is Jan 2015...so sounds like mine lasted longer than most.

Had a similar experience. The same piece referenced above came off of my fitbit in June. My warranty had run out in January 2017. Agree that there is built in obsolescence associated with this product. Will not buy another.

Hi, I had the same problem with my fitbit HR. I went on to the fitbit web site and emailed them asking to send me the part. They replied same day and said because my fitbit was 13 months old (1 month out of warranty) they would honour the warranty and send me a new one. I had to send them a photo of the old one with missing parts and I received the brand new one in the mail within a week. Great service from Fitbit! Couldn't fault them. (Note the replacement didnt include the dongle and the charger so don't throw those out & the replacement does not have any warranty but it is brand new).

Hi,

I have the same issue. The whole plastic "belt" broke and fell off and the button along with it. I kept using it without the button though. You can still work the button, it just needs a push with a fingernail or something else small and a bit sharp (like a part of a bracelet perhaps, if she wears one on the same wrist). It's a hassle but it does the trick. My problem lies mostly with charging it cause without this whole plastic "belt" part the cable doesn't click so you have to stand there and hold it while charging - I still haven't figured a way to solve that one.

Mine was out of the 1-year warranty and I also bought it in the States but live abroad, so I haven't looked into my options on a replacement to be honest.

I commented on this question on the thread re: replacing the band but question is this is more relevant to my issue.

The thin band that covers the charge port and the activation button fell off in 2 pieces when I was removing it from the charger. I contacted Fitbit and was told there are no repair options and since it was 2 months out of the year limited warranty all they could do was offer me a 25% discount on a new fitbit. I have a Charge HR that is in working order as far as the actual unit is concerned but it is now junk. I cannot charge mine so it simply died. My dashboard can't find it so it's completely unusable.

I am furious and will never buy a fitbit product again.

I'm glad some people have had good response with Fitbit offering replacement units. I was given my Charge HR as a gift in November 2015. It was too small so I exchanged it for the larger one. When I contacted Fitbit to get repair options, I was told not only that there were none, they said I had already had a replacement so there was nothing they could do but offer a discount on a new one. My explanation that of the circumstances of my exchange of the unit was met with basically 'tough'.

Me too. Button fell off just out of warranty. They wouldn't replace and only offered a 20% discount on their inflated web prices. Bought a vivofit and haven't looked back.

Wow so what we have here is planned obsolescence by the company. Make a crappy product and then offer a lousy discount to get people to buy another crappy product. I am done with Fitbit !! With this business model they will be out of business soon anyways

I can ditto all of the above in the same time frame! I'm at HR #3. It was a replacement one, as mentioned above. It lasted about three months, and now the same thing happened. I cannot believe the company will not correct this fault. Also, I am astounded at the excellent rating this product gets. I will never buy a Fitbit again; however, as I research what are the best trackers, it always comes up as the best!!!!! Amazing to me. I am very angry and disappointed.

Mine broke also. Now there are any number of sellers with replacement ones on ebay. I did succeed in rigging a way to charge it without the band using a rubber band and a small binder clip above the wide part of the cable. Basically make 2 loops of rubberband to put the wristband through on either side of where the charge cable docks to the fitbit to hold it in position evenly.

HTH!

Could you possibly post a photo of how you rig this up? Thanks!

Thanks for your tip Rosanna, it worked well and my Fitbit has a new lease on life.

Check ebay for a replacement part I believe there is one out their. I haven't tired it. So do your own research to make sure it will work for you.

I hope this helps.

My button fell off today and my daughter about two months ago. These watches are NOT cheap. Extremely disappointing! I use it to monitor my heart and calories. Help.

I got mine Christmas 2015 and the button on the side fell off! Can it be replaced? It sounds like Fitbit was not much help! Has anyone tried another brand with better luck? It sounds like the Fitbit Charge HR has a manufacturing defect with the button and band!

The horseshoe shaped plastic piece that houses the recharging port and contains the push-button that displays status HR came unglued from the tracker. Seems to me that the designers of the Charge HR either planned for the part to fail (planned obsolescence) or took a short cut to benefit manufacturing that ultimately was a weak spot for every day users (design flaw). A glued on small piece of plastic responsible for holding the charging cord which might be attached and removed as much as several times a day? How can you NOT expect it to break (and ultimately render the whole thing useless)?? This is my third fitbit ('Ultra' couldn't swim, 'One' decided to stay at the drive-in when me and the grandkids left). This will probably be my last. Sad too, because the company delivered awesome customer service in the beginning, slipping to good a year and half later, and now I get a kid who becomes offended when I point out a typo that makes no sense.

You all have my sympathy, good luck finding an alternative!

P.S. No luck on ebay, just broken fitbits being sold for parts with no mention of what is broken....probably you guys trying to dump yours ;-)
