Power button getting a signal? (without being pressed)

Hi,

so there was the smallest amount of liquid that went on my laptop around the center top half of the keyboard. after taken precautions after the incident to make a long story short. The laptop wouldn't start only the Acer loading preview would come on and then it would shut down again, i have figured out so far that if i hold down a button (any button) the computer does boot up and i can use it, BUT only whilst i hold the button down.

It looked like it was sending a signal to my power button and there for turning of the computer. This i know because the <what do you want to happen when power button is pressed> window kept popping up every time i'd release the held down button and then it shut down....

i have however disabled the power button feature both in the control panel > power options, and removed the acer power management app .

Is there anything i can do to stop this signal being sent ?

this is one abnormal situation.
