Cannot view pictures in gallery on Idol3

My gallery only shows gray boxes where images used to be. I have tried two different media rescan apps. I also cleared the cache. Nothing has worked. The camera comes on and clicks as if it has taken a picture, but the image never shows up in my gallery. Images do show up in my file manager.
