Touch id not working after flex cable replacement

Hello,

I recently replaced my LCD and I might have pulled too hard on the flex cable when removing the metal backing plate as when i put the phone back together everything worked except touch id failed. So i ordered a new home button flex cable and when i replaced it, touch id initialized but did not recognize a finger. The fingerprint comes up but does not turn red to recognize my finger. I tried re adjusting the cable but still does not work.

What could it be?

any ideas...?

Answer this question I have this problem too

Touch ID is a complex thing, your phone will only talk to the home button that it came with, install a 3rd party one or damage the home button flex and only Apple can get it working again.

Some third party extension flex (the middle bit behind the metal plate on the screen assembly) are not made to the same standard as the Apple ones, and can cause this problem.

Before buying a new flex cable, check that the Touch ID grounding clip is not damaged and in positioned properly, if this is damaged static build up can stop the Touch ID working properly..
