ihome iPL8BN not working

My ihome's battery died a year ago and I stopped using the ihome because I didn't have time to get a new one til this week. I put the battery in screwed the top back and plugged it in, but the only thing that works is the clock to set an alarm. The power button doesn't work and it doesn't connect when I put my phone on it. I checked to see if the adapter is plugged in good . Also I made sure that it was plugged into a good outlet. I got this ihome in 2015 December and I really need help, thanks

Options

Since it sat for a week, you very well could have a bad battery. Remove the battery and check the voltage.

I just got the batter yesterday and it's brand new the old battery was in there unplugged for a month
