New screen worked at first and now it wont.

I changed the screen on my wives iphone 6 plus. Routine procedure. New screen appeared to activate and light up fine. Then a blueish tint appeared over the batter icon and the screen became hot. I shut it off to dbl check connections and now it will not tirn on at all. Tried a new screen and that wont light up or work. Any help would be appreciated

Was battery unplugged when you unplugged / plugged screen cables?

No. Battery was not unplugged, just phone was shut off

With the battery cable plugged in it could have shorted the screen and then the board as well. You may want to attempt to replace the battery and if that does not work the board may have been shorted and you should take the phone to a reputable micro-soldering repair shop.

I suspect the backlight filter may have blown.

Try connecting the phone to a computer and see if iTunes detects it.

If it does check the screen if it displays an image with no backlight, you can use a flashlight to see if there is display on the screen but it is a bit tricky to see as you may need to look at it at an angle and/or put the flashlight on an angle.

Like Mike said, might need to take it to a shop that does micro-soldering and fixes backlight issues.

To extend on Ben's answer most likely shorted the one or both of the backlight circuits. In the iPhone 6 plus you have two circuits and many times voltage skips the filters and goes right to one or more of the backlight caps.

Unfortunately this is becoming more common with aftermarket screens connected to i6 and i6 plus models.

As Ben said it could be one more more of the filters but most likely (especially if phone is getting hot) you have shorted your backlight line.

Basically you'll need to get under the cpu shield and rebuild part or the entire backlight line....if this is what happened that is.
