Why do I have one battery in my MacBook Pro, not 4?

Apple registration tells me the serial number on my MacBook Pro relates to a 13", mid 2012 unit, model A1278, specifically. When I look at the teardown for this model I see it has four batteries but my laptop only has one battery, marked as model A1322. What tear down guide should I be following? Many Thanks, Signed Confused and Prone to Wandering.

Many thanks for the assistance. Got my laptop up and running after considerable liquid infiltration. Some type of miracle I think, but I'll take it.
